Excerpts from our exclusive interview with him:
Q1) Tell us a little bit about your start-up and your journey, please;
My passion lies in creativity. I hold a diploma in animation and from the very starting of my career I want to do something which can help to provide something better to the society. Hence, after deciding that I have to open a company which will make Animated Explainer Videos, I started my working with a single laptop. Where I used to engage with people and started delivering the projects.
Since I have to build a company I started hiring some interns, rented out a very small place and started investing my time and earnings to fulfil the needs of the interns and helping them to be able to deliver as per the expectations of the client. There came various ups and downs from both the end, i.e. Employment and Client Winning. Since neither I have any office infrastructure, nor I have a good presence which can lend me some great clients.
I just went moving ahead with one dream and made up a team of people who dreams the same and slowly we tried to achieve great outcomes from which we can satisfy our clients. I remember there was a time when we are just left with somewhere around 1500 INR in our account since we invested to grow out with all the facilities and needed things for growing the company.
Today we have a good infrastructure with a great team and some great clients who believed us and has given us the chance to serve them.
Q2) How did the idea for your business/start-up come about?
We are an Explainer Video Company, which produces animated videos for explaining the service and product of our customers. As my education is in animation and I am very much lean towards the advertising and animation industry hence motion graphics videos are something that solves the purpose.
This is the solution which a MSME, startups or MNCs can opt for at an affordable rate and can advertise their products.
Q3) What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?
During my education, I felt that students get placed in a certain company and have a certain infrastructure but when it comes to animation industry there are many things lacking for the correct opportunities for the talented people. Hence, this has given me to build a company which I would be delighted to work in. Where people can be groomed and have the right opportunity to grow.
Q4) How did you come up with the name for your business/startup?
Since we are very much lean towards Motion – something which keeps moving and Agility, the combination of co-ordination, strength, speed etc… Hence, we named MotionGility.
Q5) What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture?
We make Animated Explainer Videos. Which is mostly a Motion Graphics or Whiteboard style of video.
Q6) Why should people choose your product/services?
In this trend of Videos, having an Explainer Video for your business is very much necessary like having a website. People are not interested in reading so long with a mere time to understand your service or product.
Hence, having an explainer video can play a vital role in conversions.
Q7) How do you market your business, and which tactics have been most successful?
We focus mostly on creation of quality videos and video around a certain topic which gets traction to our business. Since we are in Video Production hence Video becomes the core assets of our marketing as well. Social Media, WhatsApp and YouTube are the best medium we have utilized to market our videos and has worked well for us.
Q8) What risks are you facing?
Since Videos are in trends now hence being at the top is very challenging. For which one has to keep on experimenting, else you will be out of the race.
Q9) Did pandemic (COVID 19) affected your business? if yes how?
Pandemic has given us a new turn to think on broad perspective about our services and our employees. We determined various sectors where our videos can be helpful. Before the pandemic, we have never thought that way.
Q10) Have you considered any alliance/partnership/funding?
Not at the moment.
Q11) What are your responsibilities as the business owner?
As a business owner I work towards the growth of the company and since my core is animation I make sure to keep growing the quality of our videos and help to get the best for our clients.
Q12) How many hours a day do you work on average & can you describe/outline your typical day?
From morning to night, I do something related to my business.
I research, take meetings to inline my team, I explore new dimensions of Animation along with Sales and Marketing and keep on moving towards implementing the same.
Q13) What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?
When it comes to my fear, I literally fear about that if the aim of creating more employment and opportunities in this industry would get to fulfil the way I want ? Hence, to manage the same I try to hire one intern every month who is passionate and looking forward to growing. Hence, I provide him opportunity learning some things and take him towards the journey of skilled employee.
Q14) What comes first for you money or emotions?
Emotions
Q15) Tell us about your early life & How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
My family has been very supportive throughout my journey. Since I have lost my father during the early stage, it became very hard for me to choose over a job and entrepreneurship. Since the core responsibility of my family is on my shoulders, but I have to take the decision, but I am thankful that my family stood up for me.
Obviously during the initial days one has to work 24×7 to build a place and then come into running mode. There were a time, or I would say still, that I have to compromise my involvement with my family just for the work and responsibilities I have to handle day to day for the company.
Q16) What piece of advice would you give to college graduates who want to become entrepreneurs??
Make sure you are mentally ready for the hardship of entrepreneurship and only then start with this journey. If you are starting entrepreneurship with the mindset that you are the soul who will make more money or can only make more money with this instead of job, then you have to re-think since entrepreneurship is not about working for ourselves, it is working for other, society, your employees and your clients.
